Five of our favourite Formula One race tracks around the world

Five of our favourite F1 race tracks around the world

Each year, diehard motorsport enthusiasts travel to circuits around the globe to watch the Formula One World Championship Grand Prix unfold. On these tracks, legends are born, records are broken and fans are inspired.

Here are our five favourite F1 circuits and the reasons why:

1) Circuit de Monaco, Monte Carlo, Monaco

Set in the ritzy streets of Monte Carlo, this narrow, twisty 3.337km track puts the skills of the drivers to the test. With minimal room for overtaking, the circuit features elevation shifts, the slowest corner in F1 (the Fairmont Hairpin) and one of the quickest turns (the flat-out kink in the tunnel). We replicated its look and feel at Race Party so our slot car drivers could also enjoy its magic.

2) Albert Park, Melbourne, Australia

This list wouldn’t be complete without our city’s own 5.303km street track circling Albert Park Lake. Prior to 2007, only a few other circuits had a body of water so close to the track, but many of the newer circuits have copied the design. Race Party has an Albert Park inspired slot car circuit featuring 40m of twists and turns, eight lanes and two 360 degree loops.

3) Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Monza, Italy

Home to the Italian Grand Prix a record 65 times, Monza makes our top five list for its rich history and passionate Italian fans. The 5.793km course features long straights and fast corners, allowing drivers to reach astounding speeds.

4) Silverstone, UK

Built on the site of a World War II Royal Air Force bomber station, this 5.891km circuit was home to the first World Championship Grand Prix in 1950. King George VI attended the inaugural British race – the only time a reigning monarch has ever done so.

5) Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium

Set in Belgium’s rolling hills, Spa makes the list because of the skill required to navigate the fast, twisty circuit. The massive 7.004km track is famous for its Eau Rouge and Raidillon section, whereby drivers race down a straight then have to climb steeply uphill into a sweeping left-right-left series of corners with a blind summit.
