Slot car racing has been around for decades and it’s certainly had its fair share of mentions in popular films over the years. With that in mind, we decided to highlight a few times that our favourite hobbyist’s sport made it to the silver screen.
We are halfway through the school holidays, and many of us are enjoying the freedom to travel and get out and about. There’s no better feeling than hitting the open road and cruising down the highway with your favourite tunes belting out over the radio. But when it comes to classic driving tunes there are so many to choose from. From classic chart toppers to modern day hits when it comes to music we all have our own choices. Here are ten of our favourites - let us know what makes your Top 10.
This weekend sees the long awaited start of the 2021 Formula 1 season. While the Australian Grand Prix has been pushed back and won’t be the season opener, we instead look to kick things off with the Bahrain Grand Prix. With hope for a much more competitive landscape and a host of driver changes, we took a closer look and ask one question of each team.
Race Party is excited to team up with Project Optimism in hosting the upcoming online event on Sunday the 28th of March from 3-5pm.
Join renowned humanitarian, Moira Kelly AO for an afternoon of discussion and fun with high profile personalities, Jackie Gillies and Chyka Keebaugh. Emmanuel Kelly (X Factor) will join us from the USA to perform, as will singer, Azzurra Pantaleo.
As we move into March the 2021 Formula 1 season is almost here. While it may be different to see the season opener leave our shores (the Albert Park Grand Prix has been rescheduled to November), when the flag drops to start the season at the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 28 there are a number of storyline’s that we will be watching.
It was really fun to have Channel 10's Totally Wild Crew in to film at Raceparty Recently.
Some super Actors, Actresses, Storylines and Racers graced the cameras for a couple of hours of exciting filming! The Story line was based on the Australian Grand Prix.
Episode coming out after the Grand Prix in April....Looking forward to it!
A fun day was had on the 11th November filming a number of segments at RaceParty for next season's Get a Life show (airing Feb 5th). Presenters Tylea, Seamus and Maritza all sampled and explored the exciting delights of the Monaco and Albert Park Track rooms together with the Photobooth... racing cars and one another too!
Later on a group of excited 9 year olds test drove both tracks for us and we turned on our Disco and UV features to further entertain them!
The day finished with an equally lively bunch of adults who gave the kids a run for their money on the excitement and competitive front too! One of the highlights were some of the racing names chosen by the participants!

A boutique slot-car racing experience, perfect for young and old.
The reality
We arrive to drinks and canapes in the function room next to the racing room. Owner Noirin Mosley says the venue is designed for private parties, events and even corporate team-building days, and they can pretty much tailor to any group.
The 40-metre-long Albert Park Track has two 360 loops and eight lanes. We start with some test runs to see who can stay on the track the longest – as soon as you fall off, you’re out.
It’s really quite tricky at first to stay on the track, and I’m told I’ve got a bit of a lead foot – or trigger finger in this case – and need to slow down around the turns.
Next we move on to racing each other, and I’m really no good at it! I’m forever falling off the track and when I’m staying on I’m too slow.
Despite this, it’s really fun and my competitors are really enjoying it – which I suspect has something to do with the fact that they’re winning.
The pay-off
Whether you’re good at it or not, it’s just good fun and something a bit different for an event, and the team keeps us in drinks and nibbles all night.
The pain factor
At one point I’m made to don a fluoro hazard vest because I can’t stay on the track – but it’s all in good humour.
Who should do it?
Kids and adults will enjoy themselves and get their hearts racing.
The bill
Casual racing is $25 a person for an hour in a group of four to 16 people.
Catered functions and kids’ parties have various pricing options.
Would I do it again?
I could be tempted – maybe I’ll figure out how to stay on the track next time!
